Why not the intel core 2 quad? If you could would you use the quad from last wishlist on this system? ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 ) Also, what mobo with the quad since you probably would need another. (I'm looking to build a quad system)

I've done a lot of the previous ones as quad systems, just changing things up. That board above will run a core 2 quad fine, as the core 2 extereme at the time of the board's launch was the QX6700, the same as the current Q6700.

Just wondering, if you had abit more to spend would there be another Motherboard you would look at?

I'm building a Q6600 system and am scratching my head about motherboard choice. I'm planning to purchase the G92 8800 GTS and may go SLI in the future. I don't want to limit my future chip expansions, but i'm also weary of X38.

Aslo, do you think it is a big concern that this board goes 8x on the one PCI-e slot when in SLI?

Other than that, I really like you're component choices and will most likely make this the start point of my build. Thanks Smile

The P6N is a really good well rounded board, and it has gotten a lot of good reviews from the tech community. The higher version of this, the Diamond series has a few more features. Otherwise, the EVGA 650i and 680i boards like the A1 and the T1 are good, the Asus 975X boards, and nforce 6 boards.

The X38 is overkill for a build right now, for the price, it's not worth the added features. The lack of SLI is another bad point for that board. I can't comment on the 8x drop on the second PCIE slot, I haven't been using a rig with SLI that much.

I think newegg was out of stock at the specific time I built this rig, but yes, it is a cheaper and better chip. It would be a wise change.

I've noticed lot of stuff out of Stock. People must actually be buying their kids or friends $300 video cards or Christmas or else NewEgg is trying to reduce its stock of parts to show more income for the end of the year.

Either way the 8800GTS 320MB are all out of stock as well.
